The American Cinematheque now has TWO historic movie theaters.
So in this year's festival - films will be shown at both of our venues. The magnificently-renovated 1922 landmark - Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. And at the newly-renovated 1940 art-deco movie palace - The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.
Ticket purchasing is different at the two theaters - so on this page we present information relating to each of the theaters. Identify the location that you wish to attend and then view comprehensive theater information below
THEATRE LOCATION AND PARKING
Grauman's Egyptian Theatre is located at 6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood. It is two blocks east of Highland Avenue between McCadden Place and Las Palmas Avenue - on the south side of the street. The entire neighborhood has been extensively redeveloped, is well-policed and is a safe environment. There are plenty of local restaurants
There is plenty of off-street parking - and there are several parking lots in easy walking distance. The Cinematheque website gives the rates and location of local parking lots.
All the films are being screened in the Lloyd Rigler Theatre at The Egyptian which has a capacity of 618 seats.
$9 - General public
The box office accepts cash, Visa and Mastercard. Sorry - no checks or American Express. There are no ticket handling charges if tickets are purchased in person. The box office is located at the Egyptian Theatre. Box Office times below.
TICKETS MAY BE PURCHASED EITHER ON THE DAY OF THE FILM - OR IN ADVANCE.
Many customers buy tickets immediately before the screening of their choice - and there can be long lines for the 30 minutes prior to a screening. To avoid these - we recommend that you buy your tickets in advance. For more ticket-buying tips - click here.
SAME DAY TICKET PURCHASE
Tickets for all films in the festival may be purchased at the theatre box office on the day of screening.
The box office is open daily (except Mondays) 1:00pm till 4:00pm at the very minimum.
On days when there is a film screening at the Egyptian (which is most days) - the box office then remains open after 4pm - all the way through till 30 minutes after the start of the last program of the day.
