"Water" is a 1985 comedy film starring Michael Caine, Billy Connolly and a slew of top American (Fred Gwynne Dick Shawn, Brenda Vaccaro, Valerie Perrine, Ruby Wax) and British (Leonard Rossiter, Fulton Mackay, Maureen Lipman, Alfred Molina) comedic actors. The film - in the vein of the beloved Ealing comedies of the 1950s - is set on the fictional island of Cascara. An old oil well is re-opened and discovered to have mineral water with a 'slight laxative effect'. Trouble ensues...! It was scripted by top British comedy writing team Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais ("The Commitments". "Across The Universe" "Still Crazy" et al) with Clement directing and La Frenais producing. Though George Harrison did not normally get too involved in the production of HandMade's films - on "Water" he helped out by appearing on-camera in a concert sequence at the end of the film - with pals Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton.
